The Executive Board has amended the charge of the Legislative Advisory Committee to allow committee members to take a more active role in advocating the AVMA legislative agenda to members of Congress and other federal officials.

In addition to assisting the board with formulating AVMA legislative policy and positions on federal regulatory proposals, the committee will also help in their implementation. This is to be achieved by contacting federal officials and staff via e-mail, phone, or fax, as well as by personal visits while in Washington, D.C., or in the home district.

On the final day of the committee's meeting in Washington, after all committee business is complete, committee members should visit their representatives on Capitol Hill and Executive Branch officials.
