The Food Animal Residue Avoidance Databank has established an electronic newsletter pertaining to a variety of issues, all involved with the prevention of toxin and drug residues in food animals.

Also included will be information on animal drug label changes, regulatory advisories, brief case histories, and availability of other food safety resources. On occasion, the newsletter will supply FARAD recommendations concerning extralabel drug use in food animals.

Veterinarians, animal scientists, extension specialists, and the regulatory community are encouraged to sign up for the newsletter by sending a request to faradatmail [dot] vetmed [dot] ufl [dot] edu (farad[at]mail[dot]vetmed[dot]ufl[dot]edu), including their name, address, and phone number.

In addition, the FARAD Web site, www.farad.org, will make available a database containing all over-the-counter and prescription animal drugs, searchable by compound, trade name, or species. The site will become operational in the near future.

For more information, use the FARAD toll-free hotline, (888) 873-2723 (888-US-FARAD).
