Practitioners are reporting a shortage of injectable diazepam packaged in 10 ml., multiple-dose vials. Food and Drug Administration personnel confirm that there are spot shortages of diazepam supplied in multidose packaging but indicate the shortage will be temporary.

Some manufacturers of the drug have indicated that veterinary distributors may receive multidose vials in November.

Multiple-dose containers provide veterinarians with the flexibility needed to properly dose animals of varying sizes. Nevertheless, diazepam is supplied and available in alternate packaging, including ampules and prepackaged syringes.
