The Executive Board has approved expenditures to fund the quality control of the Clinical Proficiency Examination and its administration to foreign veterinary graduates seeking licensure in the United States.

During its April 1998 meeting, the board had approved establishing a $6,000 fee for foreign veterinary graduates taking the examination—$5,000 is paid to the college or private provider that administers the examination, and the remainder is appropriated to the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates Quality Assurance Fund.

Until the board's action this April, no specific policy was in place for the use of the quality assurance funds. Potential expenditures include a system to ensure validity and reliability of the examination, a training program for personnel serving as examiners, and a forum for site coordinators to meet and standardize administration of the examination.
