Poultry to get special attention

References to poultry have been deleted from the AVMA's position statement regarding Transportation, Sale Yard Practices, and Humane Slaughter of Livestock. Because poultry's needs and handling methods differ substantially from those of mammalian species, the Animal Welfare Committee believes a separate statement is necessary. That statement is currently being developed. Other changes to the statement related to structure and phrasing, rather than content. | |
