The USDA has established a toll-free help line designated to answer public queries about international outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease. Veterinarians staff the help line. In the United States, the number for the USDA-APHIS Emergency Management Center is (800) 601-9327. International callers can reach the center by dialing (301) 734-9257.
