Dr. Flynn (MIN '63), 61, Eau Claire, Wis, died Aug 15, 2000. After graduation he practiced in Minnetonka, Minn, then moved to Eau Claire, where he established the Westgate Animal Hospital, a small animal practice. Dr. Flynn was a member of the Minnesota VMA. A longtime civic leader and member of the Eau Claire School Board he was honored posthumously with the unusual distinction of having a new elementary school in Eau Claire named after him. |
| Richard S. Hawe
Dr. Hawe (GA '75), 49, Alexandria, Va, died Nov 18, 2000. A small animal practitioner, Dr. Hawe co-owned the Alexandria Animal Hospital. He was a diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners and served on the board of directors for the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. At the time of his death, Dr. Hawe was a member and chairman-elect of the AVMA Council on Education, representing private small animal clinical practice. Dr. Hawe was named the AAHA Southeastern Region Practitioner of the Year in 1993, the AAHA Charles E. Bild Practitioner of the Year in 1995, and the Distinguished Alumnus of the Year by the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia in 1997. Dr. McNeil (MSU '52), 72, Lake Orion, Mich, died July 15, 2000. A small animal practitioner, Dr. McNeil founded the Lake Orion Veterinary Hospital, where he practiced for 47 years. |

Dr. Patrick (TEX '58), 74, Eastland, Texas, died Aug 15, 2000. He owned Lake Road Animal Hospital, a predominantly large animal practice in Cisco, Texas. Dr. Patrick served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. |
| Linn S. Poley
Dr. Poley (COL '35), 88, Wichita, Kan, died Aug 26, 2000. Retired, he worked for the USDA from 1935-1973. His assignments, mainly in large animal disease control, took him to Missouri, West Virginia, Colorado, and finally, Wichita. Dr. Poley was a member of the Kansas VMA. He served as a lieutenant colonel in the Army Cavalry during World War II. | William E. Rushworth
Dr. Rushworth (CAL '55), 84, La Quinta, Calif, died Aug 26, 2000. A past president of the Marin County VMA, he owned a practice in San Rafael, Calif before moving to La Quinta. Dr. Rushworth was a local delegate to the California VMA and later served on the CVMA board of governors. He also worked extensively with Guide Dogs for the Blind and held civic posts in La Quinta. Dr. Shull (OSU '40), 83, Texarkana, Ark, died Sept 20, 2000. He practiced in the Texarkana area for more than 50 years. Dr. Shull also worked as a city and state milk inspector. He served in the Army Air Force veterinary service during World War II.
