The JAVMA National Pet Week Photo Contest has come a'calling again! In the flurry of National Pet Week activities, veterinarians rarely get the opportunity to put their own pets in the spotlight. Here is the chance to do so!

The theme for this year is "People and Pets, The Perfect Combination," emphasizing the warmth, joy, love and companionship that pets bring into our life and the vital role of the veterinarian in that relationship. Sponsored by the Auxiliary to the AVMA and the JAVMA, the National Pet Week Photo Contest invites veterinarians to submit pictures of themselves with their family pet(s), their clinic companion animal, or a favorite patient.

The winning photograph will be published in the May 1 JAVMA to coincide with the 2001 National Pet Week, May 6-12. Top contending photographs may also be published.

Recognition of the winning photograph will continue into 2002, when it will be featured in the first AVMA People and Animals Gift Calendar as the picture for the month of May.

Three-by-five photographs can be black and white or color and must be received no later than March 13 to be considered. Judging will be done by the JAVMA staff and Auxiliary staff. Entries should be sent to the National Pet Week Photo Contest, AVMA, 1931 N Meacham Rd, Ste 100, Schaumburg, IL 60173. There is no limit on submissions, but each photo should be sent separately.
