Family Night 2000, Monday, July 24, from 6 pm to 10 pm, will be a memorable evening spent under the stars at Snowbird Resort, a 40-minute ride by AVMA shuttle from Salt Lake City.

On the way to the resort, guides aboard the shuttles will describe scenery and fun facts of Salt Lake City.

The Rockies will provide a beautiful backdrop for the evening for everyone to enjoy a delicious, home-style barbecue buffet and entertainment. Melodies will be made by a banjo player, guitarist, and fiddler, who will roam the grounds. A mountain man will tell tales about veterinarians who worked in earlier times, describing tools they used and trials they faced. A magician will make children (and possibly consenting adults) disappear. Enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views while riding Snowbird's high-speed tram to Hidden Peak, where altitudes reach more than 11,000 feet. The evening will end with a fantastic laser show.

Tickets for Family Night 2000 are $20 for adults and $10 for children ages 3 through 12. Individuals planning to attend are urged to purchase tickets when registering for the annual convention.

If the event has not sold out prior to the opening of registration, tickets will be available on-site in the registration area of the Salt Palace Convention Center. Family Night is co-sponsored by Bayer Animal Health and Hill's Pet Nutrition Inc.

There's still time to take advantage of preconvention registration rates. See your March 15 JAVMA or the Convention site of the AVMA Network for registration information. Register by June 20 for reduced rates.
