AVMA invests in the future of the veterinary profession. Read on for ways you can attend the VLC at reduced costs.
Veterinarians that are AVMA members interested in developing their leadership skills are encouraged to attend. The AVMA will reimburse airfare/mileage and up to three nights hotel room and tax for one leader from each State VMA and Allied Constituent Organization in the HOD. Check with your State VMA or Allied Constituent Organization for information on how to be selected. Registration fees are not reimbursed by the AVMA.
State VMA and Constituent Allied Organization Executive Representatives
Representatives from each association represented in the AVMA HOD who are interested in developing their leadership skills. Associations are encouraged to send their Executive Director, Public Relations Representative, President, President-Elect or other staff/volunteer member of the State Veterinary Medical Association (VMA) or Constituent Allied Organization. AVMA will pay half of the travel for two representatives from each association in the HOD. Registration fees are not reimbursed by the AVMA.
Students that are SAVMA members whom are interested in developing their leadership skills are encouraged to attend. If selected for the SAVMA 2020 AVMA VLC scholarship, SAVMA will cover/reimburse airfare/mileage, up to three nights shared hotel room and registration fee for one student from each of the veterinary colleges represented in the SAVMA House of Delegates. Selection of the student from each veterinary college will be through an application process administered by the SAVMA Executive Board. Click here to apply.
Scholarships for Rising Leaders and Under-represented Groups
The AVMA, in partnership with Hill's Pet Nutrition, offers $1,000 scholarships for 10 AVMA members to develop their leadership potential at the Veterinary Leadership Conference. To qualify for the scholarships, applicants must fall in one of the following categories:
- Rising Leaders – Attendees with a desire to serve as a volunteer leader with little or no prior leadership experience.
- Under-represented in Veterinary Leadership – Veterinarians from a demographic, geographic, or socioeconomic group or practice type that is under-represented in U.S. veterinary leadership
Scholarships are awarded in the form of a $1,000 stipend to help with the cost of registration, travel and meals while attending VLC. The deadline to submit applications is 11:59 PM (CST) on Thursday, October 31. All applicants will be notified about the status of their application no later than November 19.
