New developments in genetics, ancient DNA and paleoanthropology are giving us a whole new perspective on what actually happened in past animal-human health crises like the Plague.
Likewise, new fossils and human development have yielded major insights into the timing
Likewise, new fossils and human development have yielded major insights into the timing of evolutionary changes to the human body, such as upright posture, and why some of those recent changes are often points of failure.
Paul Sereno's background is in paleontology, and his findings about the animal and plant world will engage and intrigue you as you see how the history of the animal world relates to today. He is a National Geographic Explorer and a professor at the University of Chicago, where he works in the Fossil Lab. His work is an exciting blend of art, history and science wrapped in adventure. He has explored the Sahara and Gobi Deserts, India's Thar Desert and remote valleys in Tibet. Featured in National Geographic magazine stories and NOVA documentaries, Sereno was named Teacher of the Year by the Chicago Tribune.
The Keynote Brunch is open to full convention registrants, including veterinarians, technicians, practice staff, and students. Guests and exhibitors are invited to attend a Viewing Party in an alternate location.
