Continuing education

Q: Do I need to sign up for each session I would like to attend?

A: Nearly all of AVMA's CE sessions, including Sunrise CE sessions, are available to all full Convention registrants on a first-come, first-seated basis. Exceptions include hands-on education sessions—such as interactive labs and workshops—which require advance registration and an additional fee. For entrance to the keynote, Convention attendees can show their badge.

Q: What is the maximum number of CE hours I can earn?

A: CE credit for participation in the educational program at AVMA Convention is calculated per hour for license renewal purposes. In addition, attendees can earn up to two hours of CE credit for participation in the exhibit hall. Visit www.aasvb.org/DLR/ to locate the detailed CE license renewal requirements for your state veterinary board.

Q: My guest or spouse is also a veterinary professional can they attend CE sessions?

A: Only full Convention registrants can attend educational sessions and earn CE credit. Guests or spouses who wish to attend CE sessions should register as full Convention registrants. A guest badge will only allow entry to non-ticketed social events and the exhibit hall. Guests may purchase tickets to ticketed social events. Guests also may attend the keynote.

Q: What CE is available for practice managers and practice staff?

A: The practice management and professional development CE tracks offer sessions covering all facets of the veterinary practice—including topics on personnel/staff management, personal and professional finance, leadership, career options, and communications/marketing. All full Convention registrants, including veterinary technicians and practice staff, can attend any of the available CE sessions, with the exception of select interactive labs and workshops.
