Basic information

WHAT ARE THE DATES AND LOCATION FOR AVMA CONVENTION 2021?

AVMA Convention will take place July 30-August 3, 2021 at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis. The exhibit hall will be open July 31-August 2.

WHO CAN ATTEND AVMA CONVENTION?

AVMA Convention is open to veterinary industry professionals, veterinary students, and veterinary technician students. AVMA welcomes the guests and children of attendees to participate in the exhibit hall and some events. Guests and children are not permitted to attend continuing education (CE) classes.

WHERE CAN I FIND INFORMATION FOR THE MOBILITY IMPAIRED

For your convenience, mobility equipment is available for rent at the Minneapolis Convention Center. We have both power-operated vehicles (scooters) and manual wheelchairs, which may be rented at the Visitor Information Center located on the ground floor at the main entrance.

IS CHILDCARE AVAILABLE?

Childcare services will be offered at AVMA Convention 2021. Reservations will open in May 2021.

DOES AVMA CONVENTION HAVE AN APP?

Yes, AVMA Convention does have an app. Attendees will be able to choose sessions, claim CE, email your CE certificate, see handouts and presentations, talk with other attendees, play a game, explore the exhibit hall, see what’s trending, and a lot more. The app has the most up-to-date information on sessions, room numbers, and any changes that have been made. Check back in spring 2021 for app downloading instructions.

WHEN WILL REGISTRATION BE OPEN?

Attendee registration will open March 2021.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO REGISTER?

Visit AVMA Convention to view registration rates.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IF I ELECT TO HAVE MY REGISTRATION BADGE MAILED TO ME?

Mailed badge packets include your registration badge and tickets. Badge lanyards, Convention bags, and lunch debit cards will be available at the Minneapolis Convention Center. You will receive your badge approximately two weeks before Convention.

WHAT ARE THE REGISTRATION REFUND AND CANCELLATION POLICIES?

Cancellations must be submitted in writing by Friday, June 25, 2021 no later than 5 PM CT and will incur a $75 fee. No refunds will be issued if postmarked after Friday, June 25, 2021. If you are unable to attend the live meeting, session recordings will be available through October 2021. Cancellations must be submitted in writing to avmaatmcievents [dot] com.

Travel arrangements

HOW DO I MAKE HOTEL ARRANGEMENTS?

Book your lodging in AVMA's official hotel block by booking directly through the Convention housing site. Attendee housing will open March 2021.

IS SHUTTLE SERVICE PROVIDED?

Complimentary shuttle service will be provided between some official hotels and the Minneapolis Convention Center from Thursday, July 29 through Tuesday, August 3. Official hotels in close proximity to the convention center will not require shuttle service. Check back in the spring for a shuttle service schedule.

Continuing education

DO I NEED TO SIGN UP FOR EACH SESSION I WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND?

Nearly all AVMA's in person CE sessions, including Sunrise CE sessions, are available to all full convention registrants on a first-come, first-seated basis. Exceptions include hands-on education sessions that include interactive labs and workshops, which require advance registration and an additional fee. For entrance to the keynote, Convention attendees can show their badge.

WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF CE HOURS I CAN EARN?

CE credit for participation in the educational program at AVMA Convention is calculated per hour for license renewal purposes. In addition, attendees can earn up to two hours of CE credit for participation in the exhibit hall. MY GUEST OR SPOUSE IS ALSO A VETERINARY PROFESSIONAL CAN THEY ATTEND CE SESSIONS?

Only full convention registrants can attend educational sessions and earn CE credit. Guests or spouses who wish to attend CE should register as a full convention registrant. A guest badge will only allow entry to non-ticketed social events and the exhibit hall, though a guest may purchase tickets to ticketed social events. Attendees with guest badges are able to attend the keynote.

WHAT CE IS AVAILABLE FOR PRACTICE MANAGERS AND PRACTICE STAFF?

The practice management and professional development CE tracks offer sessions covering all facets of the veterinary practice, including topics on personnel/staff management, personal and professional finance, leadership, career options, and communications/marketing. All full convention registrants, including veterinary technicians and practice staff, are able to attend any of the available CE sessions, with the exception of select interactive labs and workshops.

WHERE ARE INTERACTIVE LABS AND WORKSHOPS HELD?

The majority of interactive labs are held at an offsite location. If you are attending an offsite lab, you will receive an email with more details and your ticket will contain the departure time and lab location. Workshops will be held in the convention center.

HAVE MY STATE'S CE REQUIREMENTS CHANGED DUE TO THE PANDEMIC?

State veterinary licenses are issued by the veterinary regulatory board or licensure entity within each state. Therefore, each state determines its specific prerequisites for licensure eligibility and requirements for licensure.
