What are the dates and location for AVMA Convention 2020?
AVMA Convention will be held July 31 – August 4, 2020 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, CA. The exhibits will be open from August 1 – 3, 2020.
Who can attend AVMA Convention?
AVMA Convention is open to veterinary industry professionals, veterinary students, and veterinary technician students. AVMA welcomes the guests and children of attendees to participate in some events. Guests and children are not permitted to attend continuing education (CE) classes.
Can I bring an animal to AVMA Convention?
Pets, animal companions, and emotional support animals are not permitted at the Convention Center or AVMA-sponsored events. There are three categories of animals permitted at AVMA Convention:
- Service Animals* (defined by the ADA– includes only dogs and miniature horses; animals whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify)
- Animals on exhibit or at AVMA sponsored events during AVMA Convention
- Animals participating in AVMA Convention scheduled interactive labs or required for teaching or training (must be included on a protocol approved by the AVMA IACUC)
All animals at AVMA Convention must be in accordance with the Guidelines for Live Animals at AVMA Convention. Please indicate during registration if you are planning to bring a live animal to AVMA Convention, or email conventionavma [dot] org. A Live Animal Submission Form will be emailed to owners and handlers with further instruction.
*Service animal handlers are encouraged—but not required—to complete this process.

Is childcare available?
Childcare services are being offered at AVMA Convention 2020 through KiddieCorp. The childcare room will be located in the San Diego Convention Center. Childcare reservations will open in February 2020. View additional information and hours.
Does AVMA Convention have an app?
Yes, AVMA Convention does have an app. Attendees will be able to choose sessions, claim CE, email your CE certificate, see handouts and presentations, talk with other attendees, play a game, explore the exhibit hall, see what's trending, and a lot more. The app has the most up-to-date information on sessions, room numbers, and any changes that have been made. Check back in spring 2020 for app downloading instructions.

Where do I pick up my registration badge?
Attendee convention badge and registration bag will be available for pick up at any advanced registration location. New registrations, additions, and changes can be made online or at onsite registration. Exhibitor registration will be located at the San Diego Convention Center.
