AVMA Convention San Antonio Aug 5-9 Fun in the SunWe’re working busily as we plan and coordinate all of the CE, special events and logistics for our upcoming AVMA Convention 2016, and we’ve just released the full Convention lineup. Meanwhile, all of us at the AVMA are getting excited about the prospect of meeting with members in what might be the most beautiful – and most historic – city in Texas: San Antonio.

San Antonio is a great city to explore and get to know. It’s got history, culture, music and art, amusement parks…something for everyone. Here are just a few highlights:

The Alamo & missions
Tour the famous 18th-century mission where Davy Crockett and nearly 200 others battled the Mexican army for 13 days during the Texas Revolution. While you’re there, visit the other four missions along the Mission Trail. Together, the five missions earned UNESCO World Heritage status in 2015, becoming one of only 23 World Heritage Sites in the United States.

The River Walk
No trip to San Antonio is complete without a stroll down the iconic River Walk. Beautiful scenery and endless varieties of shops, restaurants and bars line this five-mile path along the San Antonio River. Sip a drink on one of the outdoor patios, or hop on a boat and enjoy a tour along the picturesque river.

Mexican market – El Mercado
San Antonio boasts the largest Mexican market in the United States. Market Square, or El Mercado, is a three-block outdoor plaza lined with restaurants, cafes and shops, and rich with working artists and musicians.

Arts & culture
If the cultural feast in Market Square isn’t enough to satisfy you, head over to the
outdoor space of Main Plaza, especially at night, where you can view “The Saga,” a video art display projected against the San Fernando Cathedral. Other popular cultural attractions include the McNay Art Museum, the San Antonio Botanical Garden, and the kid-friendly DoSeum.

Unleash your adventurous side and go 180 feet underground at the Natural Bridge Caverns, one of San Antonio’s natural wonders, with spectacular views of stalagmites, stalactites and chandeliers. Or escape to McAllister Park, with 936 acres that include biking, hiking and jogging trails.

Amusement parks
Whether you’re bringing your kids or just your own inner child, San Antonio offers a multitude of theme parks. Zip through the skies on any of nearly 60 rides at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, or splash into the cool waters of Schlitterbahn, a 65-acre waterpark resort that has been called the world’s #1 waterpark by the Travel Channel.

Choose from a large selection of CE
Of course, AVMA Convention isn’t all fun in the sun. It also offers up to 42 hours of CE from more than 900 world-class CE sessions, along with networking and social events. All of your CE needs are in one location with extremely popular tracks such as Companion Animal Medicine, as well as opportunities for small group interaction in interactive labs and workshops.

We encourage you to take a look at everything we’re planning in San Antonio August 5-9 on Register by April 26 to take advantage of the lowest pricing.
