President's column: Join us as we unite the veterinary community
AVMA Convention 2025 and 40th WVA Congress
Day in and day out, veterinarians and our teams work together to protect animal health, public health, the security of our food supply, and combat the spread of animal disease. Regardless of where we may live and work, we know how imperative it is to stay connected, informed, and engaged.
That’s why it’s so important for us to communicate and collaborate, as we will do when veterinarians from across the profession gather for AVMA Convention 2025 in Washington, D.C., July 18-22. The AVMA Convention is always a special occasion, and this year’s event will be made even more so as we are proud to host the 40th World Veterinary Association (WVA) Congress in conjunction with our meeting.
We’ll be bringing together global veterinary perspectives for an experience unlike any other.
The AVMA believes very strongly that broad cooperation on issues relevant to veterinary medicine and animal health are critical for our mutual wellbeing. We are committed to sharing information and expertise and exploring ideas together as we work to combat zoonotic disease, advance veterinary medicine, protect the health and safety of animals, deliver quality services for clients, and support public health.
The theme of this year’s convention is “United for the veterinary community,” and we’ll be bringing together global veterinary perspectives for an experience unlike any other:
- High-quality education
- Exciting events
- The incredible opportunity to meet colleagues from all over the world
Something for everyone
This year’s meeting offers some very special events. Our keynote address will illuminate the wonders of the human-animal bond, as veterinary technician and former Marine K9 officer Megan Leavey shares the inspiring and heartwarming story of her relationship with her faithful canine companion Rex. The story of Megan and Rex was the focus of the June 2017 film, “Megan Leavey,” which was released in theaters and is based on the true story of the special bond they shared.
Our AVMA concert welcomes Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter Meghan Trainor to the stage. Known for hits such as “All About That Bass,” “Like I'm Gonna Lose You,” and “Lips Are Movin,” Trainor’s blend of pop, R&B, and doo-wop will have you dancing all night long at the spacious Anthem music venue.
And our exhibit hall will transport you to a place where you’ll discover more than 300 exhibitors showcasing the latest products and solutions in veterinary medicine.
The AVMA Convention has something for everyone. It’s your event, and every veterinary professional is welcome. Registration is open, and we invite you to visit avma.org/Convention to learn more and reserve your spot at what will be an amazing, international experience full of opportunity and inspiration.
