Are you ready to make a career change or curious what new job opportunities might be available? Let the AVMA Veterinary Career Center make it easy for you. Register to attend our virtual career fair on March 7, and you’ll be able to meet and talk one-on-one with scores of potential employers – without any travel, and at whatever time is convenient for you.
Here’s what you can expect if you attend:
- Similar to a conventional job fair, a wide range of employers will gather to greet and talk with candidates who visit their "booths."
You’ll approach the booths of the specific employers you’d like to meet, and chat with them about their open positions. You can ask any questions you might have, and they can talk with you about your interests and how you might fit with their organization.
- You can participate at any time that’s convenient for you during the career fair hours of 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Central Time (11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Eastern).
- As with an in-person job fair, you might wait a short time in an online queue if the employer you approach is already talking with someone else.
The online chat will bring you together with hiring managers for one-on-one conversations in real time. You can talk with as many employers as you want during the four-hour event. And there’s no need to stress if on the day of the career fair you’re unable to connect with all the employers you’d hoped to meet. You'll still have access to the list of participating employers afterward, so you can contact them directly. Employers registered for the fair will have access to candidates’ resumes both before and after the event, so they’ll also be able to reach out to you.
Who should attend the career fair?
Anyone interested in jobs in veterinary medicine is welcome at the career fair – DVMs, technicians, assistants, and practice managers. The Veterinary Career Center (VCC) with its Veterinary Career Network (VCN) partners provides the largest and most active job board in the veterinary profession. There are thousands of open positions, and employers are looking for candidates at every career level. Nearly 200 employers took part in our first online career fair last September, and we expect a similar number this time around.
The virtual career fair makes it easy for you to connect with many employers in a single day, without expensive or time-consuming travel. Register now to attend and start planning your job search strategy by looking through the list of employers who have already signed up. You can see what positions they currently have posted and when they’ll be available in their booths at the career fair. You can even express interest now in chatting with them during the event.
You also can tap into the many other resources available through the Veterinary Career Center to help you prepare to meet with potential employers on March 7. In addition to a wealth of job listings, the VCC offers resume and interviewing tips, informational webinars, and access to AVMA’s proprietary salary estimator and career transition resources.
