Unsung Heroes Award recipients 2024

Is there someone exceptional on your veterinary team who goes above and beyond the call of duty? Now is the time to show your appreciation by nominating them for an Unsung Hero Award.

AVMA’s Unsung Heroes Awards offer an opportunity to shine a light on the people whose hard work and dedication often go unnoticed: the veterinary technicians, assistants, customer service representatives, kennel workers, groomers, and other nonveterinarian professionals who work by our sides every day.

Nominations are due Friday, March 21, 2025, and you don’t need to be an AVMA member to nominate someone.

Nominate an Unsung Hero

Who can be nominated

An Unsung Hero can be anyone in a veterinary position who is not a veterinarian. These professionals demonstrate exceptional qualities and are driven by a genuine desire to make a difference. Whether they’re working with animals, managing client relationships, or keeping our veterinary practices running smoothly, they have one thing in common: they embody a tireless and exemplary level of commitment to the veterinary profession.

The AVMA will choose up to 10 winners, who will each receive an Unsung Hero Award plaque. One grand-prize winner will receive complimentary registration to attend AVMA Convention 2025 and the 40th World Veterinary Association Congress, plus two roundtrip tickets to the event and a two-night stay in Washington, D.C.

Don’t miss the chance to honor an Unsung Hero in your veterinary community. Your nomination doesn’t just celebrate the contributions of these essential team members. It also highlights the vital roles they play in our profession.

Submit your nomination and give these deserving individuals the recognition they’ve earned.
