Are you a budding leader interested in learning alongside veterinary colleagues from all over the world? If so, as an AVMA member you have a unique opportunity to be part of an international leadership development program offered by the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA).

WSAVA’s new Future Association Leader Program is open only to members of WSAVA member organizations, which include the AVMA. It’s a nine-month learning journey that aims to help current and future association leaders nurture the skills and confidence needed to guide their veterinary associations.

The program blends self-led, online learning modules with expert-led virtual meetings, and will culminate in an in-person workshop at the 2026 WSAVA Congress in Warsaw, Poland. Learn more about the program on the WSAVA website.

Scholarship for an AVMA member

The American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) is funding two scholarships for the pilot year of the program in 2026—one for an AVMA member and one for a member of a WSAVA association from a lower-middle to low-income country. Each recipient will be selected by the WSAVA, with scholarships covering program fees plus partial travel expenses.

As part of the application, interested participants must include an endorsement letter from the WSAVA member organization to which they belong. Any AVMA member who is interested in applying and would like this letter of endorsement must esabinatavma [dot] org (email the AVMA’s director of global outreach) no later than Sunday, November 23, 2025, to request the letter. Late requests for letters of endorsement cannot be accommodated.

This new WSAVA program presents a unique opportunity to connect and learn with international colleagues. Learn more about the program on the WSAVA website.
