If your practice is interested in exploring ways to better engage your veterinary technicians’ full toolkit of skills, there’s still time to get in on a research study that can help.

Enrollment in an AVMA-funded project exploring how practices can better leverage the veterinary technicians’ skillset has been extended through the end of the month

What does participation look like?

Practices will be asked to have their business manager, veterinarians, and veterinary technicians complete a series of brief surveys over several months beginning in January 2025. The total time commitment from each employee will be 1-2 hours for the entire project.

In return, you’ll receive a report of the study’s findings with recommendations for how your practice can more fully engage your veterinary technicians’ skills and training.

To enroll your practice in the study, fill out this survey no later than December 31, 2024. The research is being conducted by experts at Cornell University.

A second AVMA-funded research project at Cornell, examining effective approaches to reduce veterinarian burnout, also is enrolling participants. Practices that take part will receive free access to training and materials valued at $5,000, with a focus on:

  • Reducing burnout with proven tools and strategies
  • Increasing effectiveness through behaviors that enhance work performance
  • Achieving healthier work-family balance

Participants will attend a series of virtual workshops, with a total time commitment of no more than 5 hours. Upon completion, individuals will receive $100 and a certificate of completion, and be entered into a drawing to win $1,000. The study was commissioned by the AVMA in partnership with Zoetis.

Enrollment in the burnout study is ongoing through early January and is open to practices of all types. Sign up for the burnout study by filling out this enrollment form.
