We’d love to see you in Las Vegas if you’re attending the Western Veterinary Conference (WVC)
March 5-9. Stop by Booth #1705
in the exhibit hall to see AVMA, AVMF and Partners for Healthy Pets representatives to learn about our new and on-going initiatives. These include valuable AVMA member benefits such as training that can teach you to prevent suicides; assistance against cyberbullying; wellness and well-being resources; and client education materials.
This is also a great opportunity to talk with AVMA staff about our advocacy goals and initiatives on telemedicine, depopulation and other important topics.
We encourage you to join Dr. Marci Kirk, AVMA assistant director for recent graduate initiatives, at the CE panel session “Be a Big Dog: How Women and Men Can Become Leaders of the Pack,” presented by the Women’s Veterinary Leadership Development Initiative (WVLDI) on Monday, March 6. The WVLDI session begins at 2 p.m., and Dr. Kirk will present from 5-5:50 p.m. The session, part of the Practice Management track, will be held in Mandalay Bay Convention Center Lagoon J room on Level 2.
Economics and gender
After the WVLDI panel session, don’t miss the opportunity to meet up with both AVMA staff and volunteer leaders at a networking event co-hosted by the AVMA and WVLDI at 6:00 p.m. in the Lagoon L room. Food and drink will be available, and Dr. Bridgette Bain, assistant director of analytics in the AVMA’s Veterinary Economics Division, will give a brief presentation. Discussion will include topics related to how gender impacts pay, job search and compensation variations in veterinary practice.
Join Partners for Healthy Pets for a four-hour symposium, “We’re at the Tipping Point,” on Monday afternoon as part of the Practice Operations CE track. This is a case-based course that focuses on practical strategies to attract and hold onto clients. Topics will include reactivating and retaining old clients; forward booking; and developing champions in your practice. The course also will walk you through many of the tools and resources offered by Partners for Healthy Pets. The symposium begins at 2 p.m. Monday in the Reef E room on Level 2 of the convention center.
COE listening session
The AVMA Council on Education (COE) invites those attending WVC to participate in an open listening session with COE representatives on Monday, March 6, at 3:00 p.m. in the Palm H room at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
Come by to share your opinions and concerns about veterinary education with COE representatives, who will take your comments to the next COE meeting for consideration by the full council.
