Changes to the following standards are under consideration:

  • Standard 1 - Institutional Accreditation
  • Standard 2 – Finances
  • Standard 3 - Organization and Communications

CVTEA is the educational accrediting body for veterinary technology programs in the United States. Changes to the three standards were proposed as part of the CVTEA’s regular, cyclical review of all educational standards, required species and equipment, and essential and recommended skills. The CVTEA also is reviewing and seeking comment on parts of two appendixes – Appendix H (species section only) and Appendix I (sections 1, 4, 7 only) – but has proposed no changes at this time.

In Favor of CVTEA Changes

The proposed changes in the CVTEA document serve to close potential loopholes and support the excellence of accredited veterinary technology programs.
