AVMF provides support for Texas flood relief

When disaster strikes, the veterinary community responds. Time and again, across the country and around the world, veterinary professionals step in to help—whether after tornadoes, hurricanes, wildfires, or droughts. When people and animals are in trouble, veterinary professionals answer the call.

The deadly flash floods in central Texas last month were no exception. Veterinary teams played important roles in the relief work in Texas Hill Country, treating injured animals, caring for search-and-rescue dogs, and working to reunite families and pets.

Thanks to the generosity of donors throughout the veterinary community, the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF)—the AVMA’s charitable foundation—provided $20,000 to help support that work. The AVMF funds were distributed equally, with $10,000 each going to Greater Good Charities and the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, two groups coordinating important veterinary relief work in Texas.

Because AVMF’s community of donors continually comes forward, both before and during times of crisis, the AVMF is able to provide critical aid like this when disaster strikes. If you would like to help support this work, visit avmf.org/Give to make a donation today.

Responding to disasters requires a true collective effort. Together, we can help animals, owners, and communities during difficult times.
