The AVMA teams up with the Student AVMA (SAVMA) to host regular Legislative Fly-In events that bring veterinary students and veterinarians to Washington, D.C., to participate in a two-day legislative workshop.
The most recent AVMA Legislative Fly-In took place February 3-4, 2020, in Washington, D.C.
AVMA's government relations team spent the first day of the 2020 workshop introducing participants to the legislative process and discussing legislation that impacts the veterinary profession. Participants reviewed legislative issues they would later discuss with Congress, and practiced their presentations through interactive role playing. On the second day, participants visited Capitol Hill to meet with their elected officials and advocate on behalf of the veterinary profession.
The AVMA Fly-In opens participants' eyes to the many ways in which AVMA and SAVMA members can use their veterinary expertise to shape public policy.
The next fly-in event has not yet been scheduled. Please check this page for updates.
