AWHAB Project Grant Application 4 awards of $500 each ​November 22, 2017

​ ​ ​ ​The purpose of this grant is to recognize projects that meet the following criteria: present a sustainable and/or far-reaching project that demonstrates clear benefit to the humans and animals involved, enhance the education of veterinary students in tangible ways, provide a platform for veterinary professionals to be involved meaningfully in the local community, and to benefit as many SAVMA members as possible. This grant it not intended to fund individuals or travel expenses.

AWHAB Educational Lecture Grant Application

​4 awards at $500 each ​November 22, 2017

​ ​ ​ ​The Educational Lecture Grant will be awarded to help defray expenses for special lectures to veterinary students/organizations on topics related to animal welfare and/or the human-animal bond. This is not intended as funding for individual students or student travel, although it may be used for speaker travel expenses.

    This award recognizes outstanding SAVMA members who have worked or are currently working in the areas of animal welfare and the human animal bond during their time in veterinary school. The award is aimed to reward and encourage individual accomplishments in improving animal welfare and/or the human-animal bond. This award is not intended to fund travel expenses. ​ ​

     The purpose of the Extracurricular Funding Grant is to provide veterinary student organizations funding for wet labs or lectures supplementing their college's curriculum. Our vision for this grant is for student organization or clubs to design either a lecture and/or wet lab for a topic that students would not otherwise be exposed to in their current curriculum.

​Policy Education Grant

Policy Education Grant Application

​ 6 grants up to $500 each ​December 1, 2017

​ ​ ​ ​This grant is for veterinary students and veterinary student organizations to provide funding for policy related lectures and/or events supplementing the college's curriculum. The intention of this grant is to provide opportunities for student engagement and education of how public policy impacts veterinarians. Two grants will be specifically allocated to students who have attended legislative fly in and wish to utilize this experience as a component of their event. This grant is both retroactive and proactive within the current school year.

Government and Policy Travel Grant

Grant Application 6 grants up to $500 each December 31, 2017 and May 31, 2018

   This grant will assist with the cost of attending government focused conferences, externships, or other unique experiences related to policy. Funding cannot be applied retroactively and may not be used to attend Legislative Fly-in.   Financial need will be considered.

This scholarship is open to all SAVMA members excluding current 4th years (5th years in a five-year program) due to the requirements of the position. In order to apply for this scholarship, you must have already been accepted as a delegate to attend the 2017 IVSA Symposium in South Africa. ​ ​ ​

In order to apply for this scholarship, you must have already been accepted as a delegate to attend the 2018 IVSA Congress in Poland. ​ ​ ​

 The Community Outreach Teaching Excellence Award nomination is intended for students to publicly acknowledge how faculty members, clinicians, and other respected individuals engaged in a veterinary field have gone above and beyond their own professional responsibilities and duties to interact with and make a difference in the local and/or global community as a servant leaders.

​Disaster Preparedness Grant Disaster Prep Grant Application ​Two $1000 grants and one $500 grant for clubs April 30, 2018

​ ​ ​ ​The Disaster Preparedness Grant will sponsor grants for individuals and clubs that are interested in hosting a disaster preparedness course, wet lab, or related event at their respective school.

​ ​ ​The Underserved Areas grant aims to help SAVMA members that assist in an underserved area in the US or internationally. The grant can be used for veterinary supplies, travel or public education purposes.

​CDC Day Travel Grant CDC Day Travel Grant ​20 scholarships at $200 each ​February 1, 2019

​ ​ ​ ​The CDC Day Travel Grant will reimburse SAVMA members for travel expenses incurred during attendance to CDC Day in Atlanta, GA. Since CDC Day is held every other year, the next round of grants will be awarded during the 2019 cycle.

​Community Outreach Grant Community Outreach Grant Application ​Four awards up to $1000 ​February 1, 2018

​ ​ ​ ​The Community Outreach Grant aims to help SAVMA members to integrate community service with the veterinary profession. This grant will help fund community service projects that a SAVMA member coordinates within their local community. The grant will be awarded on the years opposite of CDC Day Travel Grant.

​SAVMA One Health Grand Challenge One Health Grand Challenge ​Three $1700 grants to be awarded June 30, 2018
  SAVMA's One Health Grand Challenge was recently modified to more effectively inspire students in realizing the importance of our profession's role within the world of global and public health. More information can be found on the SAVMA One Health Grand Challenge page. ​ ​ ​

AAVMC Travel Grant
AAVMC Travel Grant ​Four awards at $500 each September 15, 2016

​The AAVMC Travel Grant will support the attendance of veterinary students to the AAVMC Wellness Summit. These students should demonstrate an interest in the topic of wellness. They should also express the ways in which summit attendance will help to develop initiatives to enhance their personal wellbeing as well as that of their respective college of veterinary medicine.

​The SAVMA committee will award funds to student applicants demonstrating the need for assistance with a project, lecture, or event(s) that will foster physical or mental wellness in their respective college, on an as needed basis.
