Veterinary college closes its doors

Winter 2012

American University of Antigua (AUA) closed its College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences on December 14, 2011. Senior Vice President for Enrollment and Chief Operating Officer Dick Woodward told The Antigua Observer that students will be transferred to St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine in Grenada and others have already been accepted to the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.

AUA already had a partnership in place with Virginia-Maryland to provide clinical training to its students. Students who have submitted applications to AUA could have their files forwarded to St. George's for consideration, upon the applicant's request.

AUA continues to operate its College of Medicine and the Kasturba Medical College International Center. AUA's veterinary college was not accredited by the AVMA-COE.
