The AVMA House of Delegates, at its July 2013 annual meeting, elected Dr. William Boyd Epperson representing large animal clinical service, and Dr. Caroline J. Zeiss representing veterinary medical research, to the Council on Education. In addition, the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges has appointed Dr. Cyril Clark the AAVMC’s liaison to the COEDr. Epperson is a professor and head of the Department of Pathobiology and Population Medicine at the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He earned a DVM cum laude from The Ohio State University and is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine.Dr. Zeiss is a professor and chief of the Pathology Unit of the Section of Comparative Medicine at Yale University; an associate professor of Ophthalmology at Yale University School of Medicine; and Director of the Pathologic Phenotyping Service at Yale. She earned a Bachelor of Veterinary Science with honors from the University of Pretoria and is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathology and the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine.Dr. Clark is former dean of the Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine and will be the new dean of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine on October 1. He received a veterinary degree from the University of Pretoria and a doctorate in veterinary pharmacology from Louisiana State University. He is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Clinical Pharmacology.All new COE members began their terms in July 2013.
