The Spring 2011 issue of The COE Standard reported on the Council on Education's eligibility to embark upon the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) recognition review process. CHEA recognition ensures academic quality, demonstrates accountability, and encourages any needed improvement. The COE has prepared a self-evaluation report, which provides evidence that it meets CHEA recognition standards. In addition to the self-evaluation report, a CHEA representative will attend the COE meeting in September to observe how the COE's activities relate to CHEA recognition standards. The representative will report back to the CHEA Committee on Recognition who will make a recommendation to the CHEA Board of Directors. The Board will make the final decision on recognition status.
