COE recognized by national accreditation council

Spring 2012

Following a yearlong process of review, the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) board of directors granted continued recognition to the AVMA Council on Education.

CHEA found the COE in full compliance with all criteria and recommended that it be recognized for 10 years, the maximum length of recognition.

CHEA is an independent, nonprofit, nongovernmental organization that grants formal recognition to accreditation bodies for higher education. CHEA recognition provides assurance to the public and the profession that the COE is fulfilling its charge in accordance with nationally established standards.

The COE has been continuously recognized by CHEA and its predecessors as well as by the US Department of Education for more than 50 years.
