This news round-up features recent developments and current events from schools accredited by the COE.

Oklahoma State University

Dr. Jean Sander has been appointed the new Dean of the Oklahoma State University Center for Veterinary Health Sciences. She is currently the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs and Professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Ohio State University. She will begin her new duties on August 1, 2011.

Ross University

Dr. David DeYoung, dean of Ross University School of Veterinary medicine, has announced his retirement from the University, effective September 30, 2011. Beginning May 9, he will move to a new position of dean emeritus serving as an advisory role with the University. Dr. DeYoung accepted the dean position in 2003. During his tenure he has added facilities to support the veterinary program. The faculty and staff were also increased to match the enhancements to the curriculum. He also strengthen the School's research program. In addition to his duties as dean he also served as professor of surgery. Dr. Gilbert Burns, dean for Faculty and Academic Programs will serve as the interim dean until the position is filled.
