Green Veterinary Practices

It's easy being green. It's not just the "in" thing; it's everyone's responsibility...and everyone can play a part.

The concept of One Health – which is the intersection of human health, animal health and ecosystem health – isn't new to the veterinary community. Veterinarians have been practicing One Health for years as they have protected human and animal health. So, it's not much of a stretch for veterinarians to acknowledge they can play critical roles in preserving the health of our ecosystem.

Drug and biohazard disposal, waste management issues, and energy conservation efforts affect our profession on a daily basis. There are numerous opportunities for veterinarians to make improvements in these areas. Whether it's a small step or a larger step, it's a step in the right direction. Together, we can make a difference.
