Association ad on veterinary medicine in movie theaters in 7 cities, expected to be seen by 3.2 million people
(SCHAUMBURG, Illinois) June 20, 2013—The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) is releasing an advertisement in movie theaters in select cities across the country beginning tomorrow to promote veterinary medicine during the AVMA’s 150th anniversary celebration.
“The goal of the ad is to promote the veterinary profession to the public, and to highlight the many other things that veterinarians do beyond treating pet cats and dogs,” explains Dr. Douglas G. Aspros, president of the AVMA. “We hope that this will help boost public awareness of the important role veterinarians fill in our society, and across the globe.”
The advertisement will play before movie previews during the pre-trailer advertisements, called NCM FirstLook, in 160 theaters and 2,760 screens across the United States in the Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, San Diego, and Washington, D.C. markets. An estimated 3.2 million people will see the ad.
The ad will be in theaters for one week, from Friday, June 21, through June 27. Movies that will include the AVMA ad include Disney/Pixar’s “Monsters University,” the sequel to the smash hit “Monsters Inc.,” the blockbuster zombie film starring Brad Pitt, “World War Z,” and “Man of Steel,” “This is the End,” and Marvel’s “Iron Man 3.”
The AVMA is celebrating its 150th anniversary with a number of programs, including an interactive Smithsonian Museum exhibit, sponsored by Zoetis, which will premier in Chicago at the AVMA Annual Convention, July 19–23, 2013.
