 Angela Roberts joins the AVMA as chief marketing and communications officer

(SCHAUMBURG, Illinois)—The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) is pleased to announce that Angela Roberts has been named its chief marketing and communications officer.

Angela Roberts Roberts, a seasoned professional with many years of marketing and communications experience, will be responsible for managing all aspects of the AVMA's Marketing and Communications Division, providing strategic leadership, and overseeing the organization's marketing and communications functions including planning, organizing, staffing and training.

"I am excited to join the AVMA at such an exciting time for veterinary medicine," said Roberts. "For more than 150 years, the AVMA has served its members and the profession with distinction. In assuming this role, I am committed to leading the AVMA's marketing and communications efforts, and to helping the organization increase public and media awareness of the importance of the veterinary profession. I look forward to leading an outstanding marketing and communications team as we build on the progress we've made in serving our members' needs and strive to grow member value."

Roberts comes to the AVMA after serving in a variety of executive-level positions. She most recently served as managing director of strategic communications at the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association. Roberts also held positions at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America as director of communications planning and strategy, and director of strategy communications and research communications. Before relocating to Illinois, Roberts was assistant director of marketing and communications at Johns Hopkins University, editor at Agora Publishing, Inc., southern division coordinator at Legg Mason Wood Walker, Inc., and recruitment coordinator and training consultant at the Maryland Mentoring Partnership.

Roberts received her master's degree in nonfiction writing from Johns Hopkins University and her certificate in strategic marketing in the nanosecond culture from the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management. She received her bachelor's degree in English Literature (cum laude) from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
