The Auxiliary to the AVMA counts on member involvement to set in motion the many activities it sponsors to support the veterinary profession. Veterinary family members, staff, and friends are invited to renew their Auxiliary membership in 2001 or to join the organization and its rewarding work.
Through its Student Loan Fund the Auxiliary assists veterinary students in following their dreams. The Auxiliary's National Pet Week and its 4-H and Science Fair awards educate children in animal care and build their interest in animal science. These are just a few examples of Auxiliary-sponsored activities.
Tax-deductible dues of $35 assist the Auxiliary in supporting its existing projects as well as initiating new ones. This month, current Auxiliary members will be billed direct for their 2001 dues rather than receiving an invoice combined with the AVMA member dues notices, as has been the protocol.
If you are an AVMA member whose spouse is not a current Auxiliary member, or if you have friends or staff who might be interested, invite them to join by calling (847) 397-6651. The Auxiliary is just about to go high-tech and launch a Web site, and Auxiliary President Kimberly L. Topper sees an exciting year ahead.
All sectors of veterinary medicine benefit from the Auxiliary's educational and promotional endeavors. The time, energy, and dues invested by its members reap returns for the profession manyfold.
