DVM Pharmaceuticals Inc in May issued a voluntary recall of Malaseb Flush after some veterinarians reported adverse reactions in animals whose ears had been treated with the flush.

Malaseb Flush is meant to be used topically and not in ears, according to a company spokesperson.

DVM Pharmaceuticals is replacing the product with an improved formulation containing non-irritating excipients safe for ears. The new flush is expected to be available by the end of July.

Practices that stock Malaseb Flush are encouraged to contact their distributors and request a return for credit. Questions should be directed to the DVM Pharmaceuticals customer service department, (800) 367-4902.
