CDC allots money for dog bite prevention

The national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control is funding several unintentional-injury prevention programs this year. One award will provide $150,000 per year for three years to develop, implement, and evaluate a multifaceted educational program for dog bite prevention. The money will be awarded to one state to fund such a program in one city of greater than 300,000 population.

Anyone interested in applying for this cooperative agreement should let their state injury prevention representative know, so that the application can be coordinated. The deadline for applications is July 10, 2000.
