 Disaster relief campaign funded

Posted May 1, 2001

As part of its ongoing disaster relief campaign, the AVMF released $149,778.60 to the AVMA in support of the Association's 2001 disaster relief and preparedness efforts.

Supported by the The Iams Company, veterinarians, and the general public, the AVMF Disaster Relief Fund is used to finance the training and equipping of Veterinary Medical Assistance Teams; to reimburse veterinarians who volunteer their time to treat animals injured in disasters; and to purchase materials that help veterinarians and their clients prepare for disasters. The AVMF has released more than $450,000 in disaster relief funding since 1996.

The 2001 grant was presented April 5 during the AVMA Executive Board meeting.
