Frank C. Armer Jr

Dr. Armer (COL '60), 64, Phoenix, died Dec 28, 1999. He owned Arizona Animal Hospital, a small animal practice in Phoenix. A member of the Arizona VMA, Dr. Armer was named the association's Veterinarian of the Year in 1983. He also served on councils or committees with the Arizona Academy of Veterinary Practice and Sierra VMA. Dr. Armer was served on AVMA's Council on Veterinary Service from 1986-1992.

Kirk P. Campbell

Dr. Campbell (ROS '97), 29, Maple Valley, Wash, died Jan 1, 2000. He practiced at Northwest Equine in Kent, Wash. Memorial contributions may be made to Oasis of Hope, c/o Tiffany McCart, 48633 282nd Ave E, Enumdaw, WA 38022.

Brenda A. Gangel

Dr. Gangel (KSU '69), 54, Burton, Kan, died Jan 4, 2000. A member of the Kansas VMA, she owned Gangel Veterinary Clinic in Moundridge, Kan. Her husband, Dr. Michael Gangel, is a retired practitioner. Ralph C. Howe

Dr. Howe (ISU '44), 78, Dubuque, Iowa, died Oct 26, 1999. He was an inspector for the USDA from 1967 until his retirement in 1981. During the course of his career he practiced in Iowa, Nebraska, and Wisconsin and was a member of the Iowa and Wisconsin VMAs. Dr. Howe served in the Army Veterinary Corps in Germany from 1947-1952. Melvin J. Klooster

Dr. Klooster (MSU '38), 91, Zeeland, Mich, died Oct 8, 1999. A member of the Michigan VMA since 1939, Dr. Klooster practiced in the Zeeland area for 40 years.

Richard L. Lange

Dr. Lange (ISU '75), 48, Knoxville, Tenn, died Nov 11, 1999. He and his twin brother, Dr. Randall Lange (ISU '75), owned Lange Animal Hospital, a small animal practice in Knoxville, which they started in 1977. A long-time member of the Tennessee VMA, he served as member-at-large on its executive board for 1990-1991 and was on the State Peer Review committee. Dr. Lange was also a former board member of the Humane Society of East Tennessee. Memorials may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, PO Box 566, Knoxville, TN 37901.

Ronald L. Mahan

Dr. Mahan (OSU '74), 57, Ethel, Wash, died Nov 4, 1999. A member of the Washington State VMA, he owned Mahan Veterinary Clinic, a small animal practice in Ethel, for 24 years. Douglas D. McLean

Dr. McLean (COL '58), 66, Riverton, Wyo, died Oct 10, 1999. He was president of the Wyoming VMA for 1969-1970 and served six years on the state Board of Veterinary Examiners. He was also appointed to the Practitioners Committee of the Intermountain VMA. Dr. McLean established his mixed practice in Riverton in 1958 and retired in 1995. Stephen E. McQuilken

Dr. McQuilken (IL '57), 66, Windcrest, Texas, died Oct 11, 1999. He was a retired lieutenant colonel in the Army.

Benjamin Meerdink

Dr. Meerdink (ISU '33), 94, Rock Valley, Iowa, died Dec 20, 1999. A life member of the Iowa VMA, he started his practice in Craig, Iowa and later moved to Rock Valley.

Charles C. Meshek Jr

Dr. Meshek (ISU '60), 68, Urbandale, Iowa, died Oct 23, 1999. He was retired from a small animal practice.

Parminder Nagra

Dr. Nagra (PUN '72 ), 51, Portland, Ore, died Jan 5, 2000. He owned Companion Pet Clinic of West Slope in Portland and was a member of the AAHA and Oregon and Portland VMAs. Dr. Nagra practiced in Canada before moving to Portland.

Peter J. Panco Jr

Dr. Panco (AUB '77), 54, Miami, died Oct 15, 1999. He owned a small animal practice, Companion Animal Hospital in Pinecrest, Fla. Dr. Panco's volunteer activities included work with the Veterinary Foundation of Miami-Dade, Adopt-a-Pet, and The Cat Network. John L. Porter

Dr. Porter (AUB '58), 72, Lancaster, Ky, died Jan 4, 2000. He practiced in Lancaster from 1958 until his retirement in 1993. Dr. Porter was a member of the Kentucky VMA and served several years on the Garrard County Health Board. He served in the Army in Germany and Japan as a first lieutenant. Peter N. Thomsen

Dr. Thomsen (MSU '69), 53, Royal Oak, Mich, died Oct 6, 1999. He was retired from a small animal practice.

Charles G. Warner

Dr. Warner (OSU '54), 70, Murray, Ky, died Oct 1, 1999. A member of the Kentucky VMA, he owned Warner Animal Clinic in Murray for 41 years. Dr. Warner was a captain in the Air Force. Memorials may be made to Humane Society of Calloway County, Hazel, KY 42049.

Vernon L. Wells

Dr. Wells (AUB '41), 81, Selma, Ala, died Nov 24, 1999. He enjoyed a 40-year career in veterinary medicine and owned Northside Animal Hospital in Selma. An avid outdoorsman, Dr. Wells was active in the Central Alabama Shooting Dog Trials. Memorials may be made to the Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine.
