Richard J. Abbott
Dr. Abbott (Cornell '57), 87, Moultonborough, New Hampshire, died Feb. 18, 2019. Following graduation, he practiced primarily small animal medicine with his brother, the late Dr. George W. Abbott (Cornell '45), in Worcester, Massachusetts. In 1981, Dr. Abbott moved to Moultonborough where he established Meadow Pond Animal Clinic, working there until retirement. In retirement, he served as a relief veterinarian.
Dr. Abbott was a member of the Kiwanis Club for more than 60 years and served as president of local Kiwanis clubs in New Hampshire. He was twice named Kiwanian of the Year. Dr. Abbott was also a member of Ducks Unlimited. He is survived by two daughters, a son, and three grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Central New Hampshire VNA & Hospice, 780 N. Donald L. Brust
Dr. Brust (Washington State '64), 80, Escondido, California, died Jan. 30, 2019. A mixed animal veterinarian, he owned Oceanside Veterinary Hospital in Oceanside, California, for almost 40 years prior to retirement. Dr. Brust also bred, trained, and showed Clydesdale draft horses. He was a member of the California and San Diego County VMAs and Clydesdale Breeders of the USA. In 2018, Dr. Brust received the CVMA Outstanding Service Award.
Active in his community, he was a past president of the Rotary Club of Carlsbad and Rotary Club of Bonsall, served two terms on the Bonsall School Board, and was active with the 4-H Club. Dr. Brust is survived by his wife, Ina; a son and a daughter; and three grandchildren. His grandniece, Dr. Kelsey D. Brust (California-Davis '14), is a veterinarian in California.

George P. Bullock
Dr. Bullock (Auburn '51), 95, Trent Woods, North Carolina, died Feb. 19, 2019. He owned a mixed animal practice in New Bern, North Carolina, prior to retirement in 2015. Before that, Dr. Bullock worked in Durham, North Carolina, for a few years. He was a member of the North Carolina VMA, New Bern Historical Society, Rotary Club, and Sons of the American Revolution.
Dr. Bullock served in the Army Air Force during World War II. His daughter and two grandchildren survive him. Memorials may be made to the Mary C. Bullock and George P. Charles R. Clinkenbeard
Dr. Clinkenbeard (California-Davis '54), 93, Redding, California, died Dec. 15, 2018. Following graduation, he established a food animal practice in Willows, California. In 1961, Dr. Clinkenbeard founded Hilltop Veterinary Hospital in Redding, switching to small animal practice until retirement in 1988.
Active in his community, he was a past president of the Willows Kiwanis Club, Kiwanis Club of Redding, and the Redding East Rotary, and he served on the Mistletoe School Board. Dr. Clinkenbeard served in the Army during World War II. His two sons, two daughters, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren survive him. One son, Dr. Kenneth D. Clinkenbeard (California-Davis '78), is a veterinarian in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Memorials may be made to Riverfront Playhouse, 1620 E. Neil B. Ericson
Dr. Ericson (Ross '19), 27, Pueblo West, Colorado, died Feb. 8, 2019. He is survived by his parents and a sister. Memorials, toward animals in need, may be made to the Fritz Fund, c/o Mesa Veterinary Clinic, 1124 20th Lane, Pueblo, CO 81006.
Max L. Hacker
Dr. Hacker (Kansas State '68), 76, Crete, Nebraska, died Feb. 22, 2019. He began his career in small animal practice in Auburn, Nebraska. Dr. Hacker later moved to Crete, where he initially worked at Crete Veterinary Clinic, subsequently going into private practice. His three daughters, a son, five grandchildren, two brothers, and a sister survive him.
Harold E. Jackson Jr.
Dr. Jackson (Texas A&M '53), 94, Waco, Texas, died Nov. 25, 2018. A mixed animal veterinarian, he owned Jackson's Animal Clinic and Hospital in Dallas prior to retirement in 1991. Dr. Jackson was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Memorials may be made to the Waco Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation, P.O. Box 32508, Waco, TX 76703.
James S. Larsen
Dr. Larsen (Illinois '55), 87, Ballwin, Missouri, died Oct. 27, 2018. Following graduation, he worked as a small animal clinician in Oak Lawn, Illinois, before joining the Air Force Veterinary Corps as a lieutenant. Dr. Larsen subsequently left the Corps with the rank of captain to practice in River Forest, Illinois. After receiving his master's in orthopedic surgery from Michigan State University in 1961, he served until 1966 as an assistant professor of small animal surgery at Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Larsen then worked as an associate scientist for Ethicon Research Foundation in Somerville, New Jersey, involved in suture research and development and biological quality control.
In 1969, he was named project director of the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals in Columbia, Missouri, also serving as an associate adjunct professor at the University of Missouri. Dr. Larsen later completed a one-year special residency in small animal surgery at Mizzou and moved to St. Louis, where he established a mobile veterinary surgical referral practice. He retired in 2008.
Dr. Larsen was a past president of the Greater St. Louis VMA and a member of the Missouri VMA and New York Academy of Sciences. He is survived by his wife, Martha; two daughters; and three grandchildren. Dr. Larsen's nephew, Dr. Mark S. Rusley (Minnesota '80), is a veterinarian in Algonquin, Illinois.
Richard M. Lasday
Dr. Lasday (Auburn '47), 95, Maplewood, New Jersey, died Feb. 24, 2019. He owned a mixed animal practice in Washington, Pennsylvania, until 1996. Dr. Lasday was an Army veteran of the Korean War. His two daughters, a son, and five grandchildren survive him. Roseann P. Marshall
Dr. Marshall (Illinois '66), 77, Palm Harbor, Florida, died April 6, 2019. From 1990 until retirement in 2001, she served as department head of the veterinary technology program at Tri-County College in Pendleton, South Carolina. During her tenure, Dr. Marshall was named Educator of the Year by both Tri-County College and the South Carolina Technical College System. Early in her career, she worked in Virginia and Florida.
Dr. Marshall is survived by a stepson, a stepdaughter, stepgrandchildren, step great-grandchildren, and two sisters. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Glenn Marvelle
Dr. Marvelle (Colorado State '81), 66, Cave Creek, Arizona, died April 15, 2019. In 1984, he founded Desert Forest Animal Hospital, a small animal practice in Cave Creek, where he practiced until retirement in 2005. Earlier in his career, Dr. Marvelle worked at Maryvale Animal Hospital in Maryvale, Arizona. He was a member of the Arizona VMA.
Dr. Marvelle is survived by his wife, Dr. Tracy Marvelle (Colorado State '81), who practices at Desert Forest Animal Hospital, and a brother. Stuart M. Montrose
Dr. Montrose (Alfort '50), 92, Bridgeport, Connecticut, died April 3, 2019. After graduating from the National Veterinary School of Alfort in France, he practiced small animal medicine primarily in Connecticut's Fairfield County for almost 60 years. Dr. Montrose is survived by his wife, Valerie; two sons and two daughters; and 10 grandchildren. Memorials, toward Parkinson's research, may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Karla J. Mooers
Dr. Mooers (Washington State '86), 59, Maple Valley, Washington, died Feb. 12, 2019. A small animal veterinarian, she owned Animal Hospital of Maple Valley. Dr. Mooers is survived by her mother and two brothers.
