The award program honors FFA members who have developed special skills that they can apply to their future careers. The AVMA sponsors the award in veterinary science with Blue Buffalo Co. and Tractor Supply Co.

Siems works for Los Osos Pet Hospital in Los Osos, California, as a kennel technician. She feeds boarded animals, walks the dogs, and cleans up after closing. She also took on the responsibilities of holding dogs for blood draws and giving insulin shots. She plans to attend the University of California-Davis to study animal science with the goal of eventually becoming a veterinarian.
