Ross appoints new dean

Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts, West Indies, has appointed Dr. Sean J. Callanan as dean. He has over 25 years of experience in research and veterinary education.
“Dr. Callanan’s passion for the Ross mission, his work and reputation as a member of the profession, and his vision for advancing the school makes him the best choice to lead the institution forward,” said Steve Riehs, group president of medical, professional, and online education at DeVry Education Group, in an Oct. 31 press release.

Since joining Ross’ veterinary school in 2013, Dr. Callanan has served as professor of veterinary pathology, director of postgraduate studies, and inaugural director of its Center for Integrative Mammalian Research.
Dr. Callanan earned his veterinary degree from University College Dublin, and at the University of Glasgow, he focused his doctoral studies on infectious diseases and pathology. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists and a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Pathologists, the latter of which he also served as president.
“I am both honored and humbled to serve our RUSVM students, colleagues and alumni, and look forward to keeping our school at the forefront of veterinary education,” Dr. Callanan said in the release.
