Winn Feline Foundation seeks grant proposals

Posted Nov. 17, 2015

The Winn Feline Foundation is seeking grant proposals for studies on feline health issues. Dec. 14 is the deadline for receipt of applications.

Winn encourages proposals for research applicable to all cats, but the foundation also has an interest in projects that address issues in individual breeds, nutrition, and behavior. The foundation has special funds for research on feline infectious peritonitis, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and lung cancer. Current breed-specific funds are available for studies on hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in Norwegian Forest and Persian cats, heart disease in Birman cats, health issues in Abyssinian cats, and amyloidosis in Siamese-related breeds. Funds also are available for research regarding diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of cancer of the liver, pancreas, or intestinal tract.

The maximum grant amount is $25,000. Winn will not consider multiple-year proposals totaling more than $25,000 but will consider continuation of studies that received funding in previous years.
