The American Animal Hospital Association gave the sixth annual AAHA-Accredited Practice of the Year awards during its yearly conference, March 12-15 in Tampa, Florida. The association evaluated entries on criteria such as the hospital’s accreditation score, mission and vision, practice design, team composition, continuing education and training, and community service.

North Royalton Animal Hospital of North Royalton, Ohio, is the 2015 AAHA-Accredited Practice of the Year. Founder Dr. John Bryk built the hospital with his own hands in 1957, fashioning the structure after a doghouse. The practice has focused on high-tech care for animals and on welcoming and serving families through its warm environment, trained and caring staff, and community service and participation. A 2012 renovation incorporated separate canine and feline reception rooms and a comfort room for families to visit with sick pets or say farewell.

The finalists for AAHA-Accredited Practice of the Year were San Juan Veterinary Hospital of Farmington, New Mexico; True Veterinary Care of Verona, Wisconsin; and Cleveland Park East Animal Hospital of Simpsonville, South Carolina.

Coral Springs Animal Hospital of Coral Springs, Florida, is the 2015 AAHA-Accredited Referral Practice of the Year. Founded by Dr. Lloyd S. Meisels, the hospital has 31 veterinarians and more than 100 employees and treats more than 50,000 companion animals each year in preventive and specialized care. It is AAHA-accredited in seven areas: general hospital, surgery, internal medicine, oncology, cardiology, neurology, and emergency and critical care. The practice has outgrown several buildings and soon will increase to more than 40,000 square feet. It includes an in-house laboratory and a boarding facility.
