Awards: W. Kenneth McKersie Service Award: Dr. Christopher Rohwer, Kalamazoo, for cumulative service and accomplishments benefiting the veterinary profession, the community, and the Michigan VMA. A 1983 graduate of the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Rohwer is chief of staff at Sprinkle Road Veterinary Clinic in Kalamazoo and chair of the MVMA Student Committee. He served on the Michigan Board of Veterinary Medicine from 2009-2014, chairing it in 2014. Dr. Rohwer serves as a veterinary science instructor with the Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency’s Education for Employment program. Public Media Award: Bridget Patrick, Mason, won this award, given for activities that benefit the veterinary profession or the ideals associated with it. Patrick is a risk communications specialist for the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and promotes animal health, animal agriculture, and veterinary medicine. She serves as a ghost writer for state veterinarians and is in charge of public media for the MDARD on most animal-related issues.
