The AVMA has developed new Web resources to help the public and the profession be aware of, and comply with, regulations for moving animals within the United States and internationally.
The “Animal Travel and Transport” pages provide animal owners with an overview of certificates of veterinary inspection and other aspects of animal travel and transport. One page covers basic requirements applicable to all animals and offers a basic time line for interstate and international travel with animals. Other pages cover requirements by type of animal.
Members of the AVMA may access the “CVI Quick Reference” pages. The pages provide information about interstate and international certificates of veterinary inspection, a step-by-step approach to CVIs, avoiding common CVI mistakes, acclimation statements, animal disease traceability, and the National Veterinary Accreditation Program—plus a link to the “Animal Travel and Transport” pages for the public.
