Aja to become Banfield’s chief medical officer

Banfield Pet Hospital has named Dr. Daniel Aja (MSU ’82) as a senior vice president as he begins a transition into the role of chief medical officer.

Dr. Aja will succeed Dr. Jeffrey Klausner, who will remain a senior vice president and chief medical officer until retirement at the end of 2014.

Prior to joining Banfield, Dr. Aja served as director of U.S. professional and veterinary affairs at Hill’s Pet Nutrition. Previously, he owned and directed the Cherry Bend Animal Hospital in Traverse City, Mich., for 22 years.

Dr. Aja is a founding board member of Partners for Healthy Pets, which promotes regular preventive care for pets. He also has served as president of the American Animal Hospital Association, a member of the AVMA House of Delegates, and a member of the Michigan Board of Veterinary Medicine.
