The American Animal Hospital Association is offering a webcast about the new AAHA-AVMA guidelines on preventive care for dogs and cats.
The Partnership for Preventive Pet Healthcare is sponsoring the open-access webcast, "From Guidelines to Healthier Patients: AAHA-AVMA Canine & Feline Preventive Healthcare Guidelines." The webcast is available Dec. 5-18 at www.aahanet.org/Education/WebConferences.aspx. Then the webcast will be in the AAHA archive until Nov. 12, 2012.
"A number of factors are leading to fewer veterinarian visits, putting the health of our nation's pets at increasing risk," according to an invitation to the webcast. "The newly published AAHA-AVMA Canine and Feline Preventive Healthcare Guidelines provide a unique opportunity to educate and encourage pet owners to take essential steps toward helping to ensure the health and well-being of their pets. Now you can learn about the guidelines and successful strategies to easily and effectively leverage the AAHA-AVMA Guidelines for the optimal health of pets."
The webcast presenters are Drs. Michael Moyer and Ilona Rodan, members of the task force that developed the guidelines. Dr. Moyer is president of AAHA, director of shelter medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, and owner of Bridgewater Veterinary Hospital in Bensalem, Pa. Dr. Rodan is the founder of the Cat Care Clinic in Madison, Wis., and one of the first American Board of Veterinary Practitioners diplomates with a specialty in feline practice.
