Dr. Daryl D. Buss, dean of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine, was named to the Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service Advisory Committee on Biotechnology and 21st Century Agriculture.
Twenty-two members were appointed from nominations of more than 150 individuals. Members are charged with examining the long-term impacts of biotechnology on the U.S. food and agriculture system and on the USDA, and providing guidance to the USDA on pressing individual issues related to the application of biotechnology in agriculture. An immediate task for the committee will be to provide practical recommendations to the secretary of agriculture on ways to strengthen coexistence among various agricultural crop production methods.
