The American Heartworm Society released results in May of its latest survey of heartworm incidence in the United States.
The AHS has conducted the survey every three years since 2001 to track trends in the numbers of dogs and cats with heartworm. The 2010 survey represents data from more than 5,000 veterinary clinics.
The general pattern of heartworm incidence in 2010 was similar to the pattern in previous years.
