The Auxiliary to the AVMA is seeking entries for its annual poster and writing contests to generate promotional materials for National Pet Week 2012.

The theme for next year is "Healthy Pets Make Happy Homes." The deadline for both contests is March 16. Contest winners will each receive $300.

The poster contest is open to artists of any age. The poster may be any size and must be colorful. Contestants should mail entries to Jewel Allen, 326 Ranch Road, Grantsville, UT 84029.

Third- to fifth-graders may participate in the writing contest. Entries should be 20- to 200-word poems, essays, or stories. Contestants must submit entries in the body of an e-mail message, not as an attachment, to petweekathotmail [dot] com (petweek[at]hotmail[dot]com).

Additional details and entry forms for the contests are available by visiting the Auxiliary website at www.avmaaux.org, under "National Pet Week," or by e-mailing the Auxiliary.
