AVMA seeks nominations to Executive Board

posted November 18, 2010

Voting AVMA members in districts II and VI have the opportunity to nominate representatives to the Executive Board.

Dr. John R. Brooks, District II representative, and Dr. John R. Scamahorn, District VI representative, will complete their terms in July. The AVMA is sending a letter to each voting member in district II and VI, inviting nominations for district directors who will serve on the board for the next six-year term.

District II comprises Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. District VI comprises Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin.

The AVMA will accept nominations for district directors by a state VMA in the district or by petition of at least 50 members in the district.

District residents are eligible to run for the board if they have been AVMA members for at least the preceding five years. Nominations must include a letter from the candidate indicating a willingness to serve as well as a biographic summary and brief statement of reasons for seeking office. The AVMA will post the latter two items at www.avma.org.

Feb. 1, 2011, is the deadline for nominations for district directors. If a district has more than one nominee, the AVMA will mail a ballot to members in the district.

The voting members of the Executive Board are the 11 district directors, president, president-elect, immediate past president, and vice president.
