Event: 117th annual convention, Jan. 23-25, Lake Ozark
Program: The convention, which offered 60 continuing education lectures, drew more than 600 attendees.
Awards: Veterinarian of the Year: Dr. Roger G. Dozier, Jefferson City. A 1966 graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Dr. Dozier practices at Southwest Animal Hospital and serves as vice president of the MVMA Board of Managers. He is past president of the association and past chair of the Missouri Veterinary Medical Foundation's fundraising and public relations committees. President's Award: Mary Green, Columbia. A third-year veterinary student at the University of Missouri-Columbia, Green serves on the MVMA's Executive Board; Convention Program Committee and Emergency Management and Public Health Committee; and Recent Graduate and Collegiate Task Force. Missouri Veterinary Medical Foundation Distinguished Service Award: Dr. and Mrs. Gary Atkinson, St. Louis, for their more than 20 years of volunteer service and their assistance in expanding the foundation's mission of public education and charitable giving to worthy organizations. Dr. and Mrs. Atkinson have been instrumental in the conception, development, and coordination of several fundraising events, benefiting the foundation and its auxiliary. Honorary Membership Award of the Missouri Academy of Veterinary Practice: Dr. Harry Berrier, Columbia, won this award given for distinguished or meritorious service to the veterinary profession. A 1945 graduate of Kansas State University, Dr. Berrier was a member of the veterinary faculty at the University of Missouri-Columbia, prior to retirement. During that time, he served as associate professor of veterinary pathology and clinical toxicologist. Dr. Berrier helped establish and is a past president of the American Society for Veterinary Clinical Pathology.

Awards: Veterinarian of the Year: Dr. T. Murt Byrne, Santa Fe. A 1988 graduate of Colorado State University, Dr. Byrne owns Eldorado Animal Clinic in Santa Fe. He is treasurer of the NMVMA and heads the association's legislative committee. Distinguished Service Award: Dr. J.T. "Skip" Prichard, Mesilla Park. A 1963 graduate of Colorado State University, Dr. Prichard practices in Mesilla Park. He was honored for his commitment to the volunteer group "Cowboys for Cancer Research."
